Disclaimer
-=-=-=-=-=
First of all the disclaimer. I take no (zero, niente, nada) responsability
for what this door can do to your system. If anythings gets lost destroyed,
goes crazy, escapes to hawai with your wife/husband, hits your dog, it's
up to you to ensure pay of any damage caused by this door (material or
whatever). You, the sysop, user, whatever take full responsability for
using this software.
As far as I can tell it registers no enforcer hits or does anything that
appears remotelly dangerous, BUT as I've said previously it's your problem.
Your risk. I made an option to lead a very dull life and can do quite well
without the emotions off a court room.
If you are not willing to accept all responsability and risks delete the
software.
Distribution
-=-=-=-=-=-=
This door may be freely (XUWARS & CUWARS) distributed. The registered
version (CRUWARS) may not be distributed at all.
ShareWare
-=-=-=-=-
This door is ShareWare. If you want the full version (without the 30
seconds delay and without the 31 days trial limit) you must register.
Registration costs $15 if you live in Portugal, $20 if you live in Europe,
$30 if you live outside europe. The reason for the price diference is that
I deliver the registered version by netmail (file attached).
All prices refer to US dollars. You can mail a similar amount in your own
currency.
I only take registrations from fidonet sysops. If you're not in fidonet
you may not register the door.
When you send the money REMEMBER to give me your fidonet address, your
name and bbs name (all this gets encripted in the executable so that I can
trace pirated/hacked copies). Along with the executable you receive a
password on my system, you will be able to do any further upgrades of the
registered version for free, at your own expenses (the call).
The evaluation version only allows each game to be played 31 days (from
the date it was started) and has a 30 second delay when the door starts.
The registered version obviously has none of these.
The address is:

System requirements
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Any BBS package that can run CLIdoors (cli programs as doors) and uses
ctrl+c when user drops carrier (C-NET does this).
How to install
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Like you install any other CLIdoor. Create a directory for UWARS, copy
the archive files (and ANSI directory) and run the CLIdoor executable
(CUWARS, or CRUWARS if you have registered this door).
This door ONLY takes one parameter: the user name! Check your software
manual for the code to place at the command line.
In case of problems
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
If the door does not boot properlly (on previous versions it used to show
"incomplete" screens, and now does not boot at all) your bbs software is
not "passing the complete door path information" to the door, and due to
that it fails to find the ansi files. The solution is simple: edit and
install UWARS.CFG file in your "doors:" assign, containing the complete
path to the door on the first line. Check the example.
Alternative setups
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Universal Wars will allow 9 games to be running. That should be more than
most boards need, however if this doors gets real popular or something
similar you can install multiple rooms/directories of Universal Wars by
using multiple paths.
UWARS1/CUWARS <user_name_code>
UWARS2/CUWARS <user_name_code>
etc
this would setup two rooms with 9 games each... you can do this forever
having virtually game rooms with diferent access levels, secret rooms
(unlisted on menus), etc. Just remember to copy both the door and the ANSI
directory to each directory.
Universal wars will create the required datafiles, etc.
If your bbs system requires the UWARS.CFG file to be in "Doors:" (read
previous section; "In case of problems") you must copy a diferent config
file everytime you run the door, a example of how to acomplish this is
present at the sample config file provided with this archive (the example
is for xenolink systems but it is quite easy to figure it out).
MAINTENANCE
-=-=-=-=-=-
None, hopefully. All game datafiles files have the same size, if one gets
corrupted just delete it. The game runs the events when users enter it, no
cron programs are necessary.
Turns are made dailly, games that are not played for 31 days are deleted,
once victory is achieved in one game it will be available after 31 days.
DELETING ONE/ALL GAMES
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
To delete a game simply delete the Game#.dat (where # is the number of the
game to be deleted).
To delete all games simply all Game#.dat (where # is the number of the
each game) files.
IF A FILE GETS DAMAGED
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
All game#.dat have exactly the same size. If a file has a diferent size
simply delete it since it is damaged/corrupted.
How can I report bugs & problems
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
By netmail to 2:362/4...
You may also call the bbs directly and check how is progress on the door,
you may access the door on your first call.
The number is ++351-1-705070 and it has a v32bis modem.
